About Me

My photo

Well, I can't really tell you allllll about me! LOL. But I can tell you that I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and Christian. And I love scrapbooking, card making, painting, and altered art.  I love to coordinate parties with themes and come up with new ways to incorporate paper art into them.   I enjoy working with my hands and making something out of nothing.  It's such a wonderful thing to know that there are so many beautiful women out there who share the same passion for this hobby....ART! that I do. I draw inspiration from everything around me and from people like you! So, let's get scrappin'!

Using Water Color Crayons

Well,I sat still long enough to try another project using my water color crayons. It's not a finished piece, but I wanted to post it anyway. I heard the song on the radio and it kinda stuck in my head the rest of the day. The title is "I Am Not My Hair." It's a saying that basically became an anthem for sistahs the world over. And it's always been a favorite of mine. I'm thinking that I'll add a tiara - the message would be "I'm a Queen whether I have short, medium or long hair, bone-straight or curly hair, kinky or wavy hair, thick or thin hair, light or dark hair - I am a descendant of a beautiful Queen." I'll do another post when I've added a few more touches to the project. Hope you'll come back to see it. Thanks for looking and have a blessed week! Hugs+Kisses Renee

Going back to an old favorite....

Hi there friends. I have a question for you. Do you ever have something in your artistic stash that you're crazy about, can't get enough of, and become happy every time you use....and then it fizzles out? Well, that's what happened to me. The long story short of it is that I used to love to doodle in water color paints. I wouldn't call myself an expert in it, but managed to sell a few things right off of my own house walls! Yay me!! But some years back, when I started doing scrap albums and other things, I kinda got away from using them. A couple of years ago, I bought water color crayons, and they sat, and sat, and sat in the drawer collecting dust. Well, I dusted them off this weekend and decided to play with them for a bit. I call this project "Primitive Flowers." They are basically quick doodle flowers with no rhyme or reason, LOL. I love how the colors become more vivid once you wet the paint. There are lots of mistakes going on in the project, but I figured out a few things while using them and will try my hand at using them again in the very near future. Thanks for stopping by Hugs+Kisses Renee

Another Mema's Crafts Challenge Entry

Hi good and crafty people. Just wanted to pop in to do a quick post on another card. This is another project that I'll be entering into Mema's Crafts "Hello Doiley" challenge. It was created using a K&Company die cut card, and three doilies. The doilies were inked with Tim Holtz Adirondack ink in Citrus to compliment the color tone of the card base. I then added a random pearl and sticker from my stash. Again, wish me luck and thanks for stopping by! Hugs+Kisses Renee

Keep on Scrappin'!

Hi there friends: Just wanted to post a quick pic of the latest mini album completed. This one is made from manila coin envelopes (approx. size 5x3"). I like the size of it. Compact enough to fit into your purse, but large enough to give you room to add pictures and little bits of memorabalia. The paper used was from a lovely, India Mat stack (Joanns), with shades of brown, gold and silver. Some of the pages felt like fabric and mulberry papers. They're really very pretty. I received the paper stack as a gift reward (from Naudja P.) for completing a year long challenge over at Scraps of Color. The Name Game. It is a book about me. We used each letter in our name to tell a story about ourselves, e.g. for the letter "R" I chose the word "romantic." Get it? It was fun and although each page doesn't have a photo of me, it was fun to complete the 12 month challenge. It's not the best picture in the world, but I hope that you can see it clearly. I added mulberry roses, string pearls, skeleton leaves, shells, decorative ribbon, feathers, and additional embellishments to the cover. I hope you like it! Until next time, hugs + kisses Renee

Robert Jackson Image "Serenade"

Hi there folks: Just a quick post. This is a new image from the artist Robert Jackson. It's called Serenade. I think that it has a lot of potential for so many different backgrounds and settings. In my world, this is me and the man of my dreams....a man that can sing and play piano to me anytime and anywhere I want. So with me being a country girl at heart, I picture the serenading this time in a lush, soft, green space. Nature and beauty at it's very best. We'll be using this image over at Scraps of Color in our regular Friday Nite Chat Challenge tonight. I hope that you'll take a peek at all of Robert's fantastic images and come visit us all at SOC sometime. They happen to be two of my favorite sites! Until I see you again, Hugs+Kisses Renee
This image was colored using Copic markers, Stampin' Up! Early Expresso and Pear Pizzaz ink pads, Autumn Leaves light blue ink pad, and a Darice embossing folder called Leafy Tree.

Pay it Forward 2013

Hi my friends: I just wanted to share a project that I worked on over the weekend. One of my best friend's sister is always sending me her fabulous baked goods. She is a master in the baking department! Allllll homemade, alllllll yummmmmmmy, alllllll made with so much l-o-v-e!!! And I get to be her willing guinea pig. Yay ME!!! Anyway, I wanted to make her a little something and so I sat down and created her a mini album. Hopefully, she'll love it (and continue to send me goodies every now and then - wink-wink!) No seriously, I just wanted to pay it forward and she was my number one candidate to do something nice for. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to tell you which designer paper line I used, because I used the front and back covers for another project and can't remember the name of it. I can tell you that I added lots of flowers (mulberry roses and Primas), mini butterflies that were dyed with Adirondack ink, feathers, ribbon, tulle, pearls and charms. I think that I did a pretty good job on it. My friend says "Sooooo, ummm, I'm your biggest fan...where's mine?!" That made my heart sing....so I guess I better get cracking on another mini album - haha. Thanks for looking!
Bye for now....see you soon! Hugs+Kisses Renee

A New Scraps of Color Challenge

Hey there happy, scrappy friends: I'm back with a brand new challenge that I'm entering into over at http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/group/robert-jackson-digi-group/forum/topics/challenge-3-color-challenge. It's Challenge #3 in the Robert Jackson Group. The rules are pretty simple; use black, pink and white in your project and add some bling! This will be my entry:
I'm trying to stay in "scrapping mode," but of course it's hard when you work, take care of a family, and just try to have a life! Haha! So joining in on these challenges are actually really good for me. I'm also trying to remember to add into posts with pictures the supplies that I use (just in case it inspires someone!). For this project the supplies used were: Me & My Big Ideas Black and White Layers paper, black cardstock, Want 2 Scrap self-adhesive pink pearls, Martha Stewart Lattice deep edge punch, mulberry paper roses, and some left over bling from another project. i> Wish me luck....there are scrappy prizes to be had! Tata for now! Hugs+Kisses Renee
