Altered Paint Brush Swap

Hi all:
 ..
Over at Scraps of Color, I've joined a new swap.  The "altered paint brush swap."

Check out
for more ideas

Unfortunately, sign ups are closed for this event and we have all been partnered up.  Although I would suspect that if others want to be involved and there are enough people to partner up, the hostess would be glad to do so.  The more the merrier. This just makes the SOC gallery more beautiful!  And this will be the first time that I've altered a paint brush, so this should be fun.  And anyone that knows me knows how much I love to alter every day items.  This is a glimpse into how I altered the paint brush for my partner Maxine.

Step One
(Leave your brush bristles intact or remove)
Step Two
(Choose your paint color)
 Step Three
(Choose your patterned paper)
Step Four
(Punch or use decorative scissors on the bottom edge)
Step Five
(Gather your embellishments)

Step Six
Assemble!

Stay tuned....I'll be posting a pic of the finished product in the very near future!

Until next time....Hugs+Kisses

That's Alterable!

Hi all:

The altering stuff journey continues over at all:http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/events/that-s-alterable-challenge-2013.

This month we alter cans. Yup, cans. Soup cans, craft paint cans, veggie cans.  Any kind of can.

I decided to try out one of the new stencils that I received in the mail this morning that my friend Sharon was kind enough to send to me.  She has been cutting them on her Cricut with her latest cartridge buy.  I can tell that she's having a really good time making them, can't you? LOL

And I can't wait to try them all!

This is the can that I altered

Products used: soup can, gesso, texture paste, patterned paper, lace and stencil

This is the stencil that I used

Now I've got to say....I've been doing really good not buying a bunch of craft items that I don't really need...and trying to use what I've got....but being able to cut my own stencils sounds great...and seeing how much fun Sharon is having and how great they're turning out - realllllllly makes me want this cartridge!

I'll be good until I've used all of the ones that Sharon sent to me and the ones that I already own that haven't even been taken out of their packages...but I don't know how long I can hold out.  Besides, remember that I told you that my Cricuts and eBosser are collecting dust?  Maybe getting this cartridge will make me pull them out and actually USE them! LOL

Thanks Sharon for thinking of me....and your subtle and unaware hint to buy this cartridge....
Anyway, until next time

Craftin Desert Diva's Challenge Craft it Up and Link it Up Linky Party #13

Hi all:

In my attempt to be more involved in the craft world.  Besides buying and  buying and  buying craft supplies. And totally running out of room to store them all.  LOL.  Which, by the way, I've been doing great at .... my little "no buy" until I use rule.

I decided that I would enter into as many challenges out in the blogworld as possible.  Not only is it fun, but it keeps me on my "scrappin' toes" and gives me the opportunity to find other blogs of interest.

So, this week this little card is being entered into the Craftin Desert Diva's "Anything Goes" Challenge.

This is the link if you'd like to participate...http://www.craftindesertdivas.com/2013/08/craft-it-up-link-it-up-linky-party-13.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CraftinDesertDivas+%28Craftin+Desert+Diva%27s%29

The design of the card looks complicated, but it was really an easy one to make!

ZigZag Card

(cut cardstock at an angle, use decorative punch for the top edge, then decorate/embellish as you wish)

Thanks for stopping by.
Please take the time to sign up and become a follower, I'd love to see you again!

Until next time

Brown Sugar Challenge #55

Hi all:

There's a challenge over at the Brown Sugar Challenge Blog to do a project using the colors blue, green and white.  I wanted to do a CAS card for this one.  And so I cut out a dress form by freehand, added "scalloped" lace edges to the form, and then used my Timmy alcohol inks to color it.  I added a scrap piece of lace, some bling and a simple sentiment to finish the card off.

The cardstock and patterned paper base is by Colorbok.
Check out http://brownsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/ for your chance to enter this challenge!
(New challenges are posted every Friday)

This challenge is being sponsored by

Blog Birthday

Hi everyone:

First, let me say Thank You to the friends that regularly take a peek at my blog. I'm so glad that you decided to become a follower and leave me comments.  Because every one of those comments is mucho appreciated.  It positively helps me to keep on scrappin' and blogging.   I learn from you, you learn from me. I enjoy your art and hope that you enjoy mine.

Please know that  I count many of you as - a friend.  Believe it or not; face-to-face-no-sight-unseen makes it feel no less friendly, than as if we saw each other on a regular basis.  We sometimes talk on the phone, text each other, email each other, and encourage each other.  You've become a part of my world, conversation, and thoughts. That's part of my goal in this journey of "blogging."  I find that I'm having a great time doing it too! I never thought I'd be able to be consistent.  But the more that I do it, the more I love it.

I realized that this month (blog started in August 2010) is the birthday for my blog. Yayyyyyyyyy me!  In the beginning, I had no clue what I was doing (not that I'm an expert now! LOL), and I almost gave up....but practicing makes blogging a whole lot easier!  And it gives me a place to share and hold onto my creations past and present.  I still haven't gotten it totally perfect....but who does?!?  But I'm liking what I've done so far, you're here supporting me, and that's what matters.

And so, to celebrate my blog's birthday (insert drumroll here please) I'll be giving away some scrapping goodies to three lucky winners! Yes...THREE.  Since it's been three years....

Winner #1
 Winner #2
 Winner #3

Because I'm having such a good time in blogworld; and I want to be able to support you also. I thought that this would be a good way to gain more followers and also be directed to some other great blogs that I might be missing out on!

I'm not gonna make it hard on anyone; especially myself, with a bunch of rules and stuff.  The only thing that you have to do is 1. become a follower and 2. leave a comment, along with your email address so that I may contact you if you're a winner...And it would be nice if you shared my blog link too!

Easy Peasy right?!

And if you're already a follower, leave a comment and I'll add your name into the mix for a chance to win too!

So, you've got two weeks to enter and spread the word!
And on Sunday, September 1, 2013 I'll randomly pick three winners.
(Due to the cost of postage - US residents only).

...who's in?

Good luck!

Looking forward to gaining more followers and giving away some crafty goodness!
Until next time,
Hugs+Kisses

Challenge at Brown Sugar Blog

Hi friends:

Just wanted to quickly share a post of a  card created for a friend recently.

It's a step card. Which I find so easy to make (and you don't have to do a lot of measuring!)

I had this paper for such a long time, I can't even begin to tell you honestly what the name of it is, or who makes it.  But apparently, I 'hoarded' it...because there were only three sheets of the same paper still attached to each other (in plastic no less - LOL).  It's double sided, so it was perfect to make a side step card.  I added a birdcage/gazebo to the front, along with several little flowers and leaves from Spellbinders. The patterns are so "busy" by themselves that I didn't think that it needed a lot more embellishment.

And the more that I think about it.....I think that I held onto this paper because I think the pattern on both sides make it very useful for a male or female card.Which I don't find very often.  Leaves on one side, and a sorta plaid on the other side.  Not a dark blue, not a very light blue, but just the RIGHT blue!  Masculine and Feminine.  I just love it!

The patterns look really nice together don't you think?

Anything Goes Challenge

That all for now.  Please stop by again soon!

Unfinished projects: Part II

Good morning beautiful! Yup, I'm talking to you.....

Remember when I talked about trying to finish up those projects that have just been sitting around? Collecting dust. Getting crushed. Wrinkled. Rumpled. Ruined.....Well, I've been trying to be a good crafter girl by finishing them up; one by one. And this past week I had a long weekend and I was determined to pull out things to work on.  All of the unfinished projects seemed to be a lot of frames that I'd painted and then put away.  I'm sure my CADHD kicked in right in the middle of whatever project I was working on, and they got pushed to the side.  But since I've been trying to rearrange my room, I know that I really really really must get it together and finish up those projects so that I can gift them and make room. Nooooo, not room for more stuff, just more room, less clutter, more organization, more display space for my own work and some of my favorite pieces given to me.

Below are photos of the projects that now need a home. LOL.  And I've decided that my monthly lunch buddies will get these.  They always want to know what I'm working on....

Dress form canvas made from rolled book pages
 Wooden $1.00 frame
Chipboard  stenciled w/modeling paste Frame
Wooden $1.00 Frame

I made quick work of putting on those finishing touches! And I like how they all turned out.  And I hope that the recipients of these like them too.  Stay tuned, there are more 'unfinished' projects to come.  I  think that I'm on a roll!

Until next time

Altered Muffin/Cupcake Tin

Hi lovelies:

I'd like to share a project with you all that I just completed recently.  As you may know, I have inadvertently become a Youtube junkie! Yes, me, a junkie for videos.  And not just "crafting or scrap booking" videos.  If something catches my interest; I'll take a look at it.  People playing pranks on each other, babies doing amazing things, animals that "talk," street fights, music, whatever.

My friend, Sharon S. (http://seraph1959.blogspot.com/) asked to do a one-on-one swap with me when   this idea got her bubbling over with excited energy after she had watched a video.  She sent a link to that video showing an altered muffin tin.  Sooooo dang ca-ute! You altered the muffin tin by painting and decorating the tin itself.  Which surprisingly was the hardest part; as I tried to paint it without leaving a lot of paint streaks.  And then you created "muffin/cupcake liners" to fit inside.  Although I'm sure you could use real liners.  Inside of those liners you were to add scrapping goodies.  The categories for us were: paper, lace, bling, wood, flowers and metal.

How could I resist? Her excited energy over altering a muffin tin spilled over into me.  And so I watched video after video after video of altered muffin tins.  Frankly, I couldn't find an actual "how to" or "tutorial" on how to complete one. We decided to swap the tins that we did at the end of August.  Which would give both of us plenty of time to finish other projects and take care of life on both of our ends.  That decision was made less than a week ago. And guess what? We're both DONE.  I filled the "cupcakes" to the brim...and still wanted to add more LOL. Take that craftingADHD!!!!!  One project done without jumping on to some other project.

Below, I've added  pics of the tin that I created for Sharon, of how some of the cupcakes or muffins turned out along with the decorated muffin/cupcake tin: (OOOPS! forgot to take pics of the crafting goodies inside)

It truly was fun. And I've already got several ideas for the next one. Wink Wink!
So, thank you Sharon for suggesting this swap!

Again, I truly appreciate you stopping by and taking a peek....

Until next time

Altered Muffin Tin Swap with Sharon S.

Hi everyone.
Thanks for taking a peek!

Just wanted to share a post about the altered muffin tin swap that I completed with my friend Sharon S.
Below I've shown some photos of what she created just for me....and filled the liners with crafting goodies. Some of the items I will definitely hoard and hold onto with a tight grip! Whatever I use those items for will definitely have to be something special! LOL

Sharon used my favorite colors to decorate the muffin/cupcake tin

The liners are filled with something from each of the categories we chose
(lace, metal, flowers, wood, paper and bling)

These flowers were the muffin/cupcake (icing) tops

Crafting goodies inside

Some of my favorites

We both had so much fun that I think we actually needed larger tins for all of the goodies that we wanted to include...maybe next time we should look for tins that hold a dozen!

This was a really fun swap project. And I'll be making more for some of my other crafting buddies soon.  Let me know what you think of this project.  And if you decide to alter a muffin/cupcake tin too.  I'd like to see the photos of that.

Sharon and I have decided that our next one on one swap project will be an altered spool.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8BXF3uLSWo

Again, thanks for taking the time to drop by.  I appreciate YOU!
Until next time,
Hugs+Kisses
