Old Collage Pieces...

Hi All:

For the last three years, I've been involved in Flood The Streets With Art.   You can find more information about the movement here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1669399546608169/

The goal is simple: On BLACK FRIDAY We want every artist; whether man, woman or child on our planet to drop one piece of art they've created on the streets of their community for a random stranger to find, pick up, take home & love. Yes, for FREE.

IT'S A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS!

This movement has grown....and is growing!  More than 50,000+ individuals were invited to participate.  Some dropped one piece of their art, while others dropped two, three, or 20 pieces!!! WhoooHoooo!!!  This year - art was dropped in every state of the United States, country and continent! And I feel absolutely proud to be a part of it!

Anyway, someone mentioned that they liked one of the pieces that I dropped; which was a collage.  I said that I had more stashed somewhere around here and that if they were interested I'd put them here to show...so here are the ones that I found

Fabric of our Lives

Every Woman

Little Girl Blue

Rasta

Somewhere Out There

Hope you like them.  Drop me a line letting me know that you were here. I'd love to hear from you!
Again, you should join the movement. Your art can be painting, drawing/sketching, crochet, sewing, sculpting, making jewelry, card making...whatever your heART is!

P.S. ...Flood The Streets with Art happens ONCE a year (Black Friday...the day after Thanksgiving)...but if you want to spread some of your love all the time you should also check out The Art Abandonment Project. You can drop art any time you choose!  Find more about us here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ArtAbandonment/

Until next time,

Unity Stamps

Hi:

Yup, going to do a quick post after months of nothing, nada, zip.  It's just so hard to keep up with social media sites.  But, oh well, it gives me a safe place to store pictures of some of my favorite projects using different media and techniques. And hopefully, some of my friends will take a little time out of their busy lives to take a peek at what I do and what I'm up to.

Have you ever heard of Unity Stamps? Love that place!  You can find information about them here  http://www.unitystampco.com/about/ And you can find the latest sale going on here: shttp://www.unitystampco.com/product-category/on-sale/

They have the cutest stamps.  Something for everyone.  My favorites are the AngieGirls; http://www.unitystampco.com/product-category/only-at-unity-exclusive-lines/angiegirls-all-9-hello-summer-sale/ by the artist Angie Blom.

I once mentioned to my crafty friend Lori, that she was addicted to Unity Stamps.  Which prompted us to count who had the most....I figured that Lori had me beat...boy oh boy, I was wrong. LOLOL.  Therefore, I was never allowed to tease Lori about being a Unity Stamp 'stalker' anymore....the title was now mines. LOLOLOLOL.

The owner of Unity Stamps, Angela, keeps her "peeps" involved with games, hops and sales.  The latest for me was to follow along with a technique prompt.  I've done this  technique before on several cards and it's a fun and creative look to any card using different colors over the stamped image.

The tags using the technique started out like this

So, while in my 'down time' this mornng, I decided to turn them into quick cards.  And this is how they look now

The doilies were from another project

They were sprayed with Dylusions Ink Sprays
(they were the perfect colors!)

Pocket Letters

Hi all:

Have you heard about the new craze? Pocket Letters!

It's a new way of connecting with people from all over the world or right in your own backyard or even with family and friends near and far.  In essence it's pen pals with a twist!

pen pal
noun
noun: penpal
  1. a person with whom one becomes friendly by exchanging letters, especially someone in a foreign country whom one has never met.

The idea was developed by Janette Lane.  You can find more information about her at  https://www.youtube.com/user/thejanettelane.

I was introduced to Pocket Letters through my crafty friend Vivian B.  After the first one that I completed ...let's just say....I.Was.Hooked. LOLOL.  I was like the energizer bunny....I just kept going and going and going and going!  Before I knew it, I had a binder of 50+.  It really is a great way to use up your scraps of paper, those designer papers that you've been hoarding and embellishments that you don't mind gifting away.

There are even websites dedicated to just Pocket Letters.  Here are a couple so that you can see for yourself some of the ways that people are doing them:

And here are some of the pocket letters that I've completed

Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Stamp Company: Be Inspired Challenge

Hi all:

This is the inspiration for the current challenge over at the Unity Stamp Company Blog

You can either follow the color challenge or sketch challenge.  I chose to follow the color inspiration.

I decided  to use my new Unity stamp by Angie Blom "Harper"Girl.  I.Just.Adore.These.Girls. They're like my new friends.  I stalk the Unity site regularly to see what's new and to add more stamps to my I Gotta Have list.  I really like the color pallet...it's so soft and pretty.

I can't wait to see what Angie Blom and the other ladies at Unity come up with next!

Until next time
Keep on scrapping!

Embrace Your Art 365: Prompt/SheArt

Hi everyone:
So glad that you took a minute or two to drop by and see what I've been up to.  I would love for you to leave a comment and become a follower.

I've been enjoying the daily prompts from Tiare at Embrace Your Art.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/743818892305258/.  Each day, for 365 days, we are given a prompt.  With that days prompt you are to create a piece of art.  A card, layout, altered art; whatever that prompt inspires  you to do.  I'll be posting some of my favorites in no particular order.

The prompt for day 1/29 (Day 29 of January) was SheArt.  If you don't know what SheArt is, you can find information here.  http://christytomlinson.typepad.com/christytomlinson/sheartworkshop.html
It's become one of my most favorite forms of art.  I do a lot of them.  And fortunately for me...I sell a lot of them!  It's a really great way to express what you are feeling in that moment of creating the piece.

This is the yet to be titled piece created for that prompt:

Products used: acrylic paints, Dylusions sprays, rub-ons,
white gesso, texture paste, chalk pencils

I wish that you could see the texture in the hair that I created with the texture/molding paste. I really love how it turned out.

Please leave me a comment as I really do enjoy hearing from you.  And if you're so inclined, leave a comment and include your blog address....I'd love to visit!

Until next time

Unity Stamp Company: Be Inspired

Hi all:

I am having fun playing with water colors and Unity Stamp Company stamps!

They've been having GREAT sales and I'm amassing a nice stash. Yahoooooo!

I so love Angie Blom's "Girls!"  But my favorite of them all, is the stamp that I've used below; "Harmony."  It is so beautifully drawn. I can just stare at it and stare at it.  I find it to be so lovely. Bare or with some color. Just beautiful.

I'm always peeking in on what other crafters are doing on the Unity blog.  Anyway, I decided to join in on the fun and enter into the challenge this week. It's been awhile since I joined in any challenges anywhere.  The holidays were filled to the max with parties and such and I actually took a little break from entering into any challenges with time lines.

For this challenge:  You can choose to follow the INSPIRATION COLOR PHOTO or You can choose to follow the sketch loosely for your CARD PROJECT - Scrapbook Page - Art Journal OR Mixed Media Project.

And so I decided to do a card for my entry into the challenge.

I actually colored in two images using my watercolors

Both cards were first stamped, using StazOn ink in Jet Black on Canson watercolor paper, 140lb weight.  I love that paper. It's heavy and can take a lot of wetness.  I love the image so much that I didn't want to add a lot of embellishments and so I left them pretty simple.  I've used three of the inspiration colors to do both cards.  Completing them with simple sentiments; also part of the Unity stamp line.

The Unity Challenge will post Each Month (on the second Thursday) and go for ONE full month ending the Wednesday night before the next challenge. So, take a peek at Unity for some wonderful stamps from some very talented ladies.  I'm sure you'll find something that you would love to have!

Until next time
