I've been busy scrapping.  Watching TV. Staring at the wall.  Anything and everything except "working." The house is pretty quiet and everyone is in their respective corners for the night...hopefully.  So I decided to catch up on the challenges that I've been taking a peek at and join in on the fun this weekend.

I've been blog hopping in my "quiet, me time."  So this is just a quick post as a result of that.  However, I don't expect the quiet to last long; as my grandson will probably be running through the hall in a minute yelling "Gigi!!!!"

Simon Says Stamp / Bling it On

Hi all:

I hope that you're still celebrating!

I'm back again with another card created for Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Bling it On!  Using stickles, sprays, bling, paint, etc. I created this card using several different papers from the K&Co. Let it Snow stack, a Martha Stewart snowflake punch, Diamond Stickles and a snowflake die cut.  I love the soft tones of blue mixed with the white.  And the swirls in the paper made me think of the sometimes gentle movement of snow falling.

One of the gifts that I asked for from family today, was the ability to sit and scrap.  Without hearing "Mom!!!" or "Gigi!!" or "Renee!!" or just not being interrupted for a few hours.  And they all agreed ...after much consideration! LOL.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge

Merry  Christmas Day Crafy Divas and Dudes!

Just a quick post before I head off to visit family and friends this joyous Day!
At Simon Says the challenge is for it to sparkle!   Glitter, gems, stickles, glimmer sprays and paints etc.  Now tell me, what crafty girl doesn't like stuff to sparkle?  Even if some of us are frightened of glitter!...well, I'm not really afraid of glitter, but my dog-son Maxx is.  He's going to start having a complex because of all the glitter that gets stuck in his fur! My human son says that we'll have to start calling Maxx - Maxine! LOL.

I chose to make the branches sparkle with "snow" using my Diamond Stickles.  The die was cut using the Sizzix Bird with Branches.  The bird's blingy eyes are from Want2Scrap, the Season's Greetings banner was created using a Studio G stamp and was cut free hand.  And the patterned paper/card stock is from K&Company's Let it Snow stack.

Challenges: Week of 12/23/2013

Hi all:

I chose to do this card in a clean and non-traditional colors of Christmas theme.  I used a piece of acetate to create the base of the card and stamped the Christmas package image directly onto the acetate.  I then added a piece of white card stock into the inside of the card in which to write another sentiment or your greeting and added a scrap piece of lace that was dabbed with Concord Crush dye ink from Stampin' Up! I used an American Crafts metallic marker to color in bits of the 'package,' although it's hard to tell that it has any shine from the pictures.

One thing for sure is that if I take the time to try this again, I must remember to use my Stazon ink so that I don't have to deal with smudges.  Although the fun part of it was that when I did make a smudge, it was easy to wipe it off using a plain white tissue.

Challenges 12/22/2013

Hi all:

A quick post as I am just a busy, busy little bee.  But I wanted to get a few more cards made before the nite is over.  This is a clean and simple card to celebrate a Christmas Birthday. And although the image is matted on several different colors of card stock, I wanted a lot of white space so that the recipient would focus on the image.  I used a Prima Doll stamp for this card, coloring her in with my Bic and Copic markers.  The sentiment is a stamp by Studio G. And the tiny little birdie is part of a Martha Stewart border punch.

MFP/Oriental Sketch Challenge 16

Happy Sunday!

Today was a good day.  Not necessarily for me.  But then again, I guess it was!

It was a joyful celebration today at church.  Uplifting. Inspiring. And brought me some peace in my storm.  A celebration in many ways.  It's the Advent season and the pastor's sermon was "Oh! It is Jesus!"  It was something that I really needed to hear.  And I could go on and on about that subject, but I won't, it would take too long.  And for the first time in our church's history....drumroll please! There was a MARRIAGE PROPOSAL! Oh my, it was such a beautiful, beautiful moment for us all.  Shocking. Loud. Noisy. Joyous. Amazing. The soon-to-be bride was in shock!  As I sit here now, I feel teary...but a good teary, you know? We're all so happy for the couple!  They're such a sweet, sweet couple.

Ok, on to the project for Mark's Finest Papers http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/oriental-sketch-challenge-16-12-21-13.  You're provided a sketch to use.  And your project must use an Oriental image/character or paper that makes the card obviously oriental in nature.  Of course you can add to the sketch, switch direction, make it a square card, or add embellishments.  I really don't have a lot of things in Oriental nature, although for those of you that know me know that my great-great-great grandfather was Chinese.  So of course, I improvise.  I use whatever "feels" oriental in nature to me.  I like how this turned out.

It has definitely been a busy, busy week for me.  Some of it good. Some of it bad.  But as the saying goes "I've had my ups and downs, but I'm still here." Amen?

The base of the card is a paper bag; on which I attached the white embossed card stock.  The leaves were cut free-hand and are also made of paper bags.  That cute little reindeer was embossed using Inkadinkado bronze powder and heat set.  I then used my scallop scissors (I know, who still uses those things?!) ME! ...to make the rolled flowers.  It's hard to tell from the picture because the lighting was not good; but the flowers are actually three different colors: red, gold and silver.  I added a little bit of floral moss just because a little voice inside my head told me to!  It's actually not a very big card...I'd say that the bag was of medium size; approx. 8x4".  So when folded in half it's pretty small.  

Anyway, that's it from me tonight folks...must give my brain a rest!
