Mark's Finest Papers Challenges

Hi all:

Playing catch up with some of the challenges over at http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/.

Round  those corners

Again, I think that there is a conspiracy against me concerning my computer and camera.  For some reason all of the pics want to come in horizontal.  Sigh, again I must call on my son who will no doubt reprimand me for some weird thing that I've done to the computer and camera AGAIN.

Anyway,
Until next time...keep scrappin'!

Hi all:

I'm here today with another post for the Sketch, Color, Create series over at http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/group/sketch-color-create/forum/topics/image-due-12-14.

This is the inspirational image that we were working from

And here is what I came up with
Sketch Color Create 12/14/2014

It's not a very large group of us ladies that are members of the group. But I think we're all having a good time.  I know that I am.

You can jump in any time that you wish.  There is a new image posted at least every three weeks.  Come on over and join us!  There's a new image posted now.  It's due December 28th (or whenever your fancy strikes you, LOL).

Until next time

Sketch, Color, Create Series: 11/30/2014

Hi everyone:

I'm here again with another entry into the Sketch, Color, Create Series featured at Scraps of Color.

You can find it here:  http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/group/sketch-color-create

This sketch is from an unknown artist and was used as the basis for inspiration.

This is what I came up with

If you know me, you know how much I love pencil sketches.  Love this one so much that I chose to do a pair.

I love getting practice in whenever I can. I think that's why I like these challenges.

Until next time

MFP:SWAT Challenge #120

Hi all:

Just a quick post.

Since I seem to be all caught up on projects  that were due, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and join in on the fun at some of my favorite sites.

This quick and simple card was created for Mark's Finest Papers' Sketch With a Twist.  The twist was to create a winter card.

This is the sketch we were to follow

Here is my card

The card was made using just a half of sheet of green cardstock and a half sheet of light blue.  I used the Sizzix Evergreen Tree pop-up die to create the tree, a Martha Stewart snowflake punch (I used dimensional dots to raise them up), and the sentiment which has been stamped using American Crafts pigment in Cricket.  The snow "drifts" were made by just curving the cuts in different places in the white cardstock.  Voila! Done!

Thanks for stopping by.

Mark's Finest Papers Christmas 2014: Nov/Dec

Hi all:
Just a quick post for my MFP Christmas Card Challenge of 2014.

It's been a great way to get a jump on making Christmas cards throughout the beginning of the year, leading up towards the time to send out those greeting cards to family and friends.  I hope to be able to complete this challenge again next year!

I'm glad that my Christmas list is a short one.  I used to spend good money on making cards every year, not to mention  the time that I spent making them.  Now, the list is shorter; I send to those that faithfully send to me every year.  And I keep them pretty simple too. LOL.

Nov/Dec

Next step is to address them and mail them out. Just in time!

Until next time,

Sketch, Color, Create

Hi friends:

I'm back again with another post concerning the Sketch, Color, Create group over at Scraps of Color. You can find it here: http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/

I've almost gotten my crafting supplies purged, donated, sorted, and put away! Yay me!  I'm pretty darn proud of myself.  When I'm done, I'll get back into doing other things besides drawing, sketching and painting.  I'll get back into card making and more altered art for sure.

And because I'm so much more organized...and again...it's not beautiful...but it works....I have to give a shout out to my crafty friends Sharon S. and Vivian B. for encouraging me to get a move on and get it done!  My diva friends are the best!

This is the image that was used as inspiration.

And here is my version.  I decided to paint it on a different surface this time.  And in this case, I used a clipboard.

As usual, I'm enjoying the practice.

Please stop by again!

Until next time

Hi everyone!

Today, I have another post entry in the Sketch, Color, Create group series of challenge images.

You know how a piece of art speaks to you? Well this one spoke volumes to me. Entitled 'Bali Beauty' in a pink headdress. This illustration, which appeared on the February 1936 cover was one of the last issues before Vanity Fair ceased publication, until the magazine's revival in the 1980s.

The artist is Miguel Covarrubias

DSCF3033[3]Sketch Color Create Challenge 11.2.2014 (2)

Look for more of these postings as we do a challenge image every two to three weeks.

Maybe you'll decide to join in on the fun.  We're getting to see more beautiful art, practicing something that we all love, and creating some very nice pieces.

Fun!

Thanks for stopping by,

Sketch, Color, Create (Ryan)

Hi all:

This is another post regarding the Sketch, Color, Create group over at SOC.  I love this image. Reminds me so much of me and my own sisters.  But it's also a very versatile image; sisters, friends, unity.

The image was taken from Wendy Ryan Folk Art.

And here is my take on the challenge image

I know that some of us are having a really good time participating in the challenges.  Why don't you pop on over to http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/group/sketch-color-create/forum/topics/first-official-inspiration-piece and join us.

Until next time

Sketch, Color, Create

Well, my goodness...I have been a busy bee.  So busy in fact, that it seems that I've neglected my blog for a month!

The majority of projects that I've been working on are complete, and out of my hands, and I have more time to focus on a few other things. lol.

Of course, I've been making cards, doing some layouts, completed a few altered art projects and painting whenever the fancy strikes among other crafty things.

Over at Scraps of Color, I've been involved in the group Sketch, Color, Create.  It's a group of artists who all want to individually challenge our skill sets.  We use a piece of art that is found on the internet, from a museum, etc. that inspires us.  So, using any medium that we desire, we use that single piece of art from artists well known and never heard of, to try to recreate it or just be inspired by it.

This image is by the artist Bekah Ash.

I completed the challenge image in my journal

I love how it turned out!

This is has been a really fun thing to do.

What do you think?

Until next time

29 Faces Art Challenge 2014 (23-29)

YES!

I did it...never doubted it....nah, I'm lying....I really figured that my life would get in the way of me completing this challenge.  And that I'd probably get half way through and give up.  But somehow, I managed to get all 29 Faces DONE!  I sketched, drew and painted everywhere.  It was a blast!  It was a little easier because I combined it with other projects.  That was a big help.

Yay Me!!!!

I call her "Wonky"Wanda
Luna
The Sisters
I'd like to give credit to the original artist, but I honestly don't know who it is....But it was inspiring!

Brick
Pixie

One of the nice things about this challenge is that my daughters think that there are several of the faces that I should transfer to canvas and paint.  I'm flattered by that! So, I'll give myself a bit of a break and then try my hand at that.  I surely could put to use all of the new things that I've learned.

I really hope to be able to join in on the next 29 Faces Art Challenge when it comes around again.  It really was great fun.  And I got a lot of practice in.  I actually have a few faces that I didn't include in my posts.  They were the ones that either were done on a scrap piece of paper or I wasn't quite sure what to do with.

Either way, I'm proud to say that I completed the challenge.

Until next time

29 Faces Art Challenge 2014 (15 - 22)

Hi all
Thanks for dropping by....come on, follow me!

Here's more of the faces that I've been doing for the 29 Faces Art Challenge this month.  I've combined it with finishing up a 5 year journal (where the same questions are answered for five years) that I'm creating from a hardcover book, along with completing several pieces to be abandoned through another group that I belong to https://www.facebook.com/groups/ArtAbandonment/.  I love the whole concept of this...creating art and leaving it some place for someone to find...a total random act of kindness.  It's a good way to spread the joy of what you love, your passion - ART.

I cracked open a set of shimmer paints that I used to only use when making flowers.  I don't know if you can see the shimmer in the first photo, but it really is pretty.  All of the colors in the set are very muted and pale.  Gorgeous!  I'm having such fun painting in this book...I think because I'm not being "careful."  I'm literally doing a lot of the painting without sketching anything out.  It's very "freeing," if you know what I mean.  And I wanted to preserve the integrity of the book and let the text show thru.

Please leave me a little bit of love and tell me what you think -, I'd love to hear from you!

Afrika
 Tommy
 Tessa

Pieces of Me
 Angel
 Bald is Beautiful
 Marissa

Rhonda

Still loving all of the practice that I'm getting in while participating in the challenge!  Plus I so enjoy looking at what others are creating.  It really is very encouraging.  And I learn a lot!

I'm right on schedule for posting the last faces of the challenge too; as I'll post at least three other faces that I haven't taken the time to photograph. And still complete the last of the faces by the end of the month! WhoooHoooo! Doin' the Happy Dance!

While you're here, please leave a link to your blog - I wanna see what you've been creating too!

Until next time

Mark's Finest Papers Christmas Card Challenge

Hi all:

Thanks for stopping by!

This is probably the fastest blog post that I'll ever do.

I'm so behind with all of my projects; which is a reminder as to how I shouldn't join everything that catches my eye. LOL.

Anyway, my challenge is create 2 Christmas cards per month until the holiday season.  That way, I have less cards to make when it's time to pull out my list.

So here's July thru October!

Hopefully, I can stay on track now! LOL.

Until next time

29 Faces Art Challenge 2014 (4 thru 14)

Hi all:

I'm back with more faces for the challenge.

Carolyn

Rocky

Cydney

Twala

Tammy & Trish

Renee

Patti

 Aisha

Marla

I'm really enjoying this.  So thank you  Ayala Art / http://29faces.blogspot.com/ for this challenge. It's been fun to get back into my first love, sketching and drawing.  And I'm having such a good time blog hopping thru the other artist's participating blogs.  And I'm definitely learning some new stuff; which is absolutely great!

Thanks for stopping by and  taking a peek at what I've been up to.  I'll have to gather together the faces that have (some) color to them next time....

Leave me some bloggy love, I love and appreciate every bit of your comments!
