Mark's Finest Papers Christmas 2014: Nov/Dec

Hi all:
Just a quick post for my MFP Christmas Card Challenge of 2014.

It's been a great way to get a jump on making Christmas cards throughout the beginning of the year, leading up towards the time to send out those greeting cards to family and friends.  I hope to be able to complete this challenge again next year!

I'm glad that my Christmas list is a short one.  I used to spend good money on making cards every year, not to mention  the time that I spent making them.  Now, the list is shorter; I send to those that faithfully send to me every year.  And I keep them pretty simple too. LOL.

Nov/Dec

Next step is to address them and mail them out. Just in time!

Until next time,

Sketch, Color, Create

Hi friends:

I'm back again with another post concerning the Sketch, Color, Create group over at Scraps of Color. You can find it here: http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/

I've almost gotten my crafting supplies purged, donated, sorted, and put away! Yay me!  I'm pretty darn proud of myself.  When I'm done, I'll get back into doing other things besides drawing, sketching and painting.  I'll get back into card making and more altered art for sure.

And because I'm so much more organized...and again...it's not beautiful...but it works....I have to give a shout out to my crafty friends Sharon S. and Vivian B. for encouraging me to get a move on and get it done!  My diva friends are the best!

This is the image that was used as inspiration.

And here is my version.  I decided to paint it on a different surface this time.  And in this case, I used a clipboard.

As usual, I'm enjoying the practice.

Please stop by again!

Until next time

Hi everyone!

Today, I have another post entry in the Sketch, Color, Create group series of challenge images.

You know how a piece of art speaks to you? Well this one spoke volumes to me. Entitled 'Bali Beauty' in a pink headdress. This illustration, which appeared on the February 1936 cover was one of the last issues before Vanity Fair ceased publication, until the magazine's revival in the 1980s.

The artist is Miguel Covarrubias

Look for more of these postings as we do a challenge image every two to three weeks.

Maybe you'll decide to join in on the fun.  We're getting to see more beautiful art, practicing something that we all love, and creating some very nice pieces.

Fun!

Thanks for stopping by,

Sketch, Color, Create (Ryan)

Hi all:

This is another post regarding the Sketch, Color, Create group over at SOC.  I love this image. Reminds me so much of me and my own sisters.  But it's also a very versatile image; sisters, friends, unity.

The image was taken from Wendy Ryan Folk Art.

And here is my take on the challenge image

I know that some of us are having a really good time participating in the challenges.  Why don't you pop on over to http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/group/sketch-color-create/forum/topics/first-official-inspiration-piece and join us.

Until next time

Sketch, Color, Create

Well, my goodness...I have been a busy bee.  So busy in fact, that it seems that I've neglected my blog for a month!

The majority of projects that I've been working on are complete, and out of my hands, and I have more time to focus on a few other things. lol.

Of course, I've been making cards, doing some layouts, completed a few altered art projects and painting whenever the fancy strikes among other crafty things.

Over at Scraps of Color, I've been involved in the group Sketch, Color, Create.  It's a group of artists who all want to individually challenge our skill sets.  We use a piece of art that is found on the internet, from a museum, etc. that inspires us.  So, using any medium that we desire, we use that single piece of art from artists well known and never heard of, to try to recreate it or just be inspired by it.

This image is by the artist Bekah Ash.

I completed the challenge image in my journal

I love how it turned out!

This is has been a really fun thing to do.

What do you think?

Until next time
