Unity Stamp Company: Show n Tell #2: 2/18/16 - 2/25/16

Hi:

This is my entry into the Unity Stamp Company Show n Tell Challenge https://www.facebook.com/groups/434773279941105/.

This week, the challenge was to use the inspirational colors of RED and KRAFT.

Somehow, I always manage to make three or four cards whenever I join in on a challenge somewhere.  I think it's because I've gotten into the habit of not wanting to have "scraps" of paper around....they take up way to much space.

So here are the cards created today

For this challenge I used "Bernadette Girl" by the fabulous Angie Blom.  I always look forward to seeing what new stamps she'll come up with.  And these "Girls" are my favorites of all.

The base of the card was created using kraft cardstock and a brick stencil.  I inked the stencil with Stazon in Cotton White and Inkadinkadoo dye ink in red. And used a mask of the image to stencil in the background. The focal image was stamped in Stazon black.  I felt like it needed a little something and decided to add a flower pot using one of my Marvy flower pot punches.  I popped it up using dimensionals and added a few hearts as the flower centers.

You can find the stamp here @ https://www.unitystampco.com/?s=bernadette&post_type=product

For the second card, using the same image, I decided to ink the stencil in only the Cotton White ink. I used my Big Brush markers by Faber Castell to color in the image.  I like the way it left "splotches" where the background ink of the bricks are.  Sort of a "resist" effect.  For a little bit of interest I added a big daisy in kraft card stock over a die cut greeting.

While I had out some supplies, I whipped up this quick and simple card.  The base is the negative of the die cut hello.  I then die cut the hello greeting in red and made an inlay of the sentiment.  There was an embossing folder sitting on the desk..LOL..I decided to make a strip and color in parts of it after swiping my ink pad across the surface.

Unity Stamp Company: Show & Tell Challenge

Hi:

Again, I'm joining in at the Unity Stamp Company new weekly challenge.

This time, I'll be using Angie Blom's Natalie Girl for a card.

On the first card I used a sticker page from Forever in Time collection.  I like them because you can color it to match whatever your designs and color choices for your project is and cut them to the size that you need.

The second and third card were made using several different stamps from my stash and stamped on to white cardstock.  I added dots to fill in the white space and colored all of them using my colored pencils and mineral spirits, along with an EK Success border punch.

I think that either would be perfect for a young woman; maybe even for a sweet 16th birthday card.

Until next time;

29 Faces 2016: Day 3

It's
DAY 3
of the 29 Faces Challenge 2016.

I'll have to get started on day 4 tonight. I feel like getting my hands dirty! And I think that I'll pull out a canvas too.  So, the paints will come out.  My much loved Dylusions (Dyan Revealey/Ranger) Paints.  You can find them here: http://rangerink.com/?product=dylusions-paint. Also they're available at stores like Joann's and Walmart on line.

See ya tomorrow!

29 Faces 2016: Day 2

Just a quick post today.
I forgot to post DAY 2 for my 29 Faces Challenge....

I pulled out the paint for this one. Not really happy with it. But that's what happens when you're not focused on the task! Too many distractions; welcomed and unwelcomed.

I actually laughed out loud when I looked at it after everything was dry...and immediately, she got her name:  Cave Girl!  Because that's what she looks like to me...hairline to low and crooked...lips just look weird to me...and those eyebrows??? Where was I going with that???  Hahahaha! So glad that I can laugh at myself!

Anway, I'm learning. And I'm learning to accept mistakes a lot better without trashing things too quickly!  On to the next....

29 Faces 2016: Day 1

Hey y'all!

It's that time of year again.

When I commit to drawing, sketching, making a collage or painting of FACES. That's it. One face a day for the month of February.

I have to admit that even though I painted or sketched faces almost every month, I didn't join in on posting them to my blog or any other site for that matter in 2015. But I do like to see how my faces change. I  guess it depends on my mood.  Some times, I don't even hold on to what I've created. Sometimes I'm so disappointed in the end that it goes into the trash. Sometimes I feel like it just needs to be "tweaked." And sometimes I'm tickled pink with how it turned out. So, we'll see how it goes for 2016....

This month, I have more time.  At least of today..lol.....All of the projects or orders that were bogging me down are now complete. It's not work anymore. Now it's time for some plain old "me time fun."

Here's a pic of my quick FEBRUARY 1 face

FEB 1

Yup. Plenty of things wrong...but keep going I must....

I'd like to try something a little new for me this year. Which is to post the pics of faces no matter what's 'wrong'. If  I've drawn or sketched, makes no difference on what,  no matter if I like it or not! I'm going to post for this challenge! I'm always so very critical of my own work when it comes to faces....

But like they say (whoever THEY are, ha ha) practice makes perfect right?!

Thanks for stopping by...Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Papertrey Ink: Make it Monday #238

Hi everyone:

Since I'm done with all of the projects and orders that have taken up a lot of my time during the holidays, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.  Trying to play catch up with my reading on some of my favorite blogs and joining in on the fun and challenges.

This week, I decided to join in on the challenge over at http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/ of Papertrey Ink.  The video tutorial for this week was to use the ombre technique.  And if I remember correctly, that means colors that shade into each other. Fun and easy peasy!

It's a good way to make several cards at once too.  Which is what I did using a 12x12 sheet of textured white cardstock.  And like in the tutorial, I also used my Gelatos by Faber Castell.  A little bit of layering and voila!

(Valentine ombre stamping)

Valentine's Day will be here soon and it's a good opportunity to make a few cards for those special people in your life.  So here are a few that I whipped up tonight using one of my favorite dies

(Hello Love)

Quick. Fun. Easy!

Thanks for stopping by.
