I'm Baaaaaaaaack (again)

Supplies used: Acrylic paint background stamps rub ons stickers Copic markers book pages patterned paper ModPodge I know, I know....been forever since I wrote a post or posted a picture of anything crafty or just wrote a quick note! Shame on me....(sigh) However, I've been going thru some things that have been really weighing heavily on me and needed to just "get it together." Things are so much better now, Praise God! Of course the problems haven't gone completely away. But I have a much better handle on them now...so again, all thanks to the Lord for that! So, I've been doing a little bit of crafting. Not a lot in the past four months, but I did get inspired with the goodness that I was feeling when I "let go and let God". Which always seems to lead to SheArt. These are a few (yup, did about six of 'em in two nights). I haven't added titles to them yet, because of course - every printer in the house wants to give me a hard way to go and break down or just not cooperate with me...haha. Anyway, take a look and leave a comment if you wish. They're always welcome. Now, if anyone out there knows and can give me tips on how to keep up with a blog??? HELP ME. Suggestions are verrrrrrry welcome on how you manage to make time to make posts in a consistent manner that will keep visitors and followers interested!? I really want to keep up with it...but with LIFE...aaaah, sigh.... Anyway, Thanks for stopping by......nice to see you again! Hugs+Kisses Renee

Sing A Song Challenge

Hey there sistah-Divas! Well, like always, too much time has passed since my last post. But there was a conversation about blogging that made me remember to post something today. Thanks ladies of SOC!!! So here goes... These images are by the master-Artist Robert Jackson. The are "I Ain't One to Gossip-IV" and "Party Over Here!" We were given the challenge to use one of his images that invokes a song. Brilliant! I ended up making several cards because songs popped into my head all night - haha. They were colored using Copic, Prisma and Bic markers. Please comment. Hope you enjoy!

Hello scrappy friends! It's been a little while. Like always, life just seems to get in the way of having some time to myself and trying to faithfully keep up with this blog. Plus, with all of the many crazy, busy, little things going on in my life, my scrapping mojo ran away. I called and called, but couldn't find my mojo! I would pull out supplies with ideas floating about in my brain...assure that I would create something, anything....but then I'd sit and stare at those same supplies sitting on my desk for hours...Sure, I've done some little projects; like making ATCs and a few page layouts for swapping over at Scraps of Color, but other than that...nada, nothing, nil, zip, zero...get the picture?! I guess I just needed a little bit of inspiration to get mojo to come home. So I started hopping around different blogs, generally surfing the web and going through picture galleries. Of course, that's what I should have done a month ago! Mojo finally came home... So....Over at SOC there's a group of scrappers and card makers that enjoy using a wonderful artist's digital images. The artist's name is Robert Jackson. You really have to check him out. I love the fact that his images depict people that look like me; which is hard to find. Sure, you can use crayons, colored pencils and Copics to color an image "brown, cocoa, or tan," but the features still don't look like "us." HIS DO! Thank you Mr. Jackson! The latest challenge was to use one of his images in a project using the colors purple, pink and white. The image that I chose to use is called Madame. And this is what I came up with. (I haven't added a sentiment, because as usual I'm not sure to whom it will go). Here it is,
I wanted to give Madam's clothing some texture, so instead of just coloring it, I added fuzzy yarn. And added a small pink pearl to her hat. The decorative edges already added some pop to the card, and so I didn't bother to add ribbon.

Tim Holtz's Tags 2012

Hello fellow scrappy people! I just wanted to share a pic of the tag for May:
Supplies used: stamped image, Stampin' Up! Early Expresso, Ink It Up Chocolate Brown, I Am Roses, Glossy Accents, handmade stick pin, spool die cut, and twine I think it turned out well, even though I didn't use the tissue paper technique with the stamping. I look forward to the monthly challenge of re-creating his tags. Sometimes, I have to admit though, that I don't follow his technique and just do my own thing...(shhh, sometimes it's because I don't have the supplies and other times, I'm just being lazy and think that I can do it a different way!) But isn't that the whole idea? Thanks for stopping by - I hope to see you here soon! Renee

Lil PixieGurl

Hi fellow blogsters: Just wanted to take a moment to post a little card that I recently made. I can't say where I got the image (I think it was used in a Friday Nite Challenge over at Scraps of Color), but she sure is ca-ute! I wanted to make a card that was not cluttered; so as not to take away from the image itself. So I only added a few flowers and a sentiment.
Supplies used: white GeorgiaPacific cardstock as the card base, DCWV Luxury Stack, I am Roses Gardenias, Copic and Elementz markers and white flat-back pearls. Be sure to stop by again and leave comments. I'd like to hear from you! Until next time, Hugs+Kisses Renee

And you'll make your way over to the new Robert Jackson site. The design team is really working hard to make it a great place and I, for one, am having fun! Ta-ta for now with Hugs+Kisses Renee

Afro-centric Paintstick Swap at Scraps of Color

A couple of months ago, there was a paintstick swap over at Scraps of Color. This was an extremely fun, fun, fun swap. Just the way I like it: one partner, a due date and done! This is the stick that my partner made for me. I told her to surprise me with colors and whatever else she chose for me. Audrey, my swap partner did a fantastic job! And I think it's absolutely bea-u-ti-ful! It now has a spot on the wall in my dining room. That way, I pass it every time I'm on my way to the kitchen for Pepsi! Haha.
Hugs+Kisses until next time Renee

Anything Goes With a Twist...Show Me Your Critter!

There's a challenge going on over at http://tammyscrapincorner.blogspot.com/. Anything goes....but the "twist" is to use a critter in your project. And this is the project that I'm entering. I'm quite happy with how it turned out, considering that I used scraps. I'm learning not to hold on too many pieces of paper (it just takes up too much room; which I don't have a lot of). Anyone who knows me, knows that this takes me out of my comfort zone...I really don't make many projects with animals (other than butterflies!); so I'm growing!! WhooooHoo!! And I have to admit, it was fun.

Flower Power!

What girl doesn't like flowers? If I gave a number, I'd bet there were only a few that really didn't care much about them. But me? I love flowers. Real ones. Faux ones. Fabric ones. Plastic ones. All kinds. My mom loved plants and flowers and it rubbed off on me. I'm always trying my hand at creating them from all types of materials. It's like everything else that's crafty....it's challenging and fun. Try it some time. See what you come up with. I have to admit though...some of my mistakes, turn out to be my favorite projects!

There's a new blog in town!

http://jacksonsdigitalexpressions.blogspot.com/ . Yup, it's new. And it's absolutely fabulous! The design team is in high gear and they are keeping us busy. The first thing to get us into the mix was to do a blog hop. This is the entry that I did using one of Robert's fantastic images.
The image was colored using Copic and Bic markers, patterned paper is from the DCWV Rock Star mat stack, and GeorgiaPacific cardstock. So, take a moment to stop on over at the new site. You won't be sorry! Ta-ta for now, Renee
