Altered Doll Furniture Pt.2

Hi all:
Hope all is well in your craft-land!

In a recent post I said that I would be back to show the end result for altering the little piece of doll furniture that I found at my local thrift shop.

I covered the piece in tan gesso, and after giving it a coat of glue to create the crackle effect, I added black paint.  I decided to keep the embellishments minimal and only added several mulberry flowers and a couple of leaves cut from a doily; along with a scrap piece of doily to mimic a towel or whatever your imagination chooses.

I think that it turned out rather cute!

I made another little "I can alter this" discovery this past weekend.  I'll be working on that this weekend.  I'm thinking that I'll create it to match a piece that I did for my daughter's new house....

Until next time

Still hopping!

Hi all:
I hopped myself all the way to  PAPER SMOOCHES this morning.  I've got ideas galore in that "crafty, DIY, alter it" mind right now. LOL

And they have a blog hop going on where you can win some of their crafty goodness!!!! Yayyyy!
Who doesn't need MORE of that in their stash?!?

Come join in on the fun at http://papersmooches.blogspot.com/2013/09/september-dt-blog-hop.html?showComment=1380203690008.  And while there, pick up some of the cutest stamps and dies that you'll ever see.  Pay day is sooooo far away when you see crafty stuff that you "gotta have," isn't it?  So far, I've been really, really good trying to use up what's in my stash....which is a heckuvalot....and not purchasing anything.  But when you "hop," you're bound to get into trouble!

I'll refrain from now....buying that is....but wish me luck in winning goodies!!! LOL

Until next time

Christmas...

Hi all:

Just a quick post here...
I've been having a blast blog hopping all over the place.  And I've stepped out of the "I sorta know her" comfort zone. LOL.  So, I've been subscribing to blogs that are of interest more often now.

PapertreyInk has become a new one for me.  See http://www.ipalamountain.com/2013/09/papertrey-ink-september-blog-hop/ if you'd like to join in on the blog hop fun.

And a new challenge there is to create wreaths.  Did you know that Christmas is less than three months away?! Wow! What happened to summer????

So this little CAS card was created for that:

I've used green card stock cut into snowflakes using the MS snowflake punch, added a red grosgrain ribbon, and backed it with a layer of white card stock and patterned paper from Color Bok.  I then added a few pieces of bling to give the effect of the the wreath lit up.  I like the way it has a "glow."

Wish me luck!

Until next time

Altered Doll Furniture

Hi there happy crafty people!

I was recently at my local thrift shop just browsing.  Okay, okay, who am I foolin'???  I was really looking for something craft-worthy of course!  And I found this little piece of doll furniture.  Apparently someone had already altered it for Christmas.  Or maybe it was originally purchased that way.  Either way, I figured it would be one item  that I could have a little fun altering myself.

It stands about 7" tall, and 3" wide.  The little doors open. And it's about an 1 1/2" deep.  So it could hold a little present of some sort.  Maybe even use it to hold a special card.  (If I remove the little 'shelf'.)  That part I haven't figured out yet. LoL.

I do have some thoughts on what I'd like to do; but they'll probably change once I get it primed and start to go through my stash for embellishments.

So stay tuned, and come back to see the finished results!

Until next time

Altered Paint Brush

Hi all;

In an earlier post, I gave some details on how I was creating an altered paintbrush for the September Altered Paint Brush Swap going on over at http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com/events/altered-paint-brush?id=4098125%3AEvent%3A1182433&page=10#comments.

Hopefully, my swap partner, Maxine has received the altered paintbrush that I created for her.

And here it is...

Products used: paint brush, white/coral acrylic paints, white glue to crackle the paint,
Want2Scrap bling, ribbon and lace from my stash,
mulberry flowers, stick pin, and K&Co Charlotte card stock

It was something new.  Something that I've definitely never tried  before.  But it was fun; once I got the hang of assembling the brush! It took a couple of tries to take apart the brush without damaging the parts that I actually wanted to use.  I didn't use a lot of embellishments as I didn't want to make it too bulky.  So there are very few inside the mini-album.  It took couple of tries to get the mini album in straight.  But once I figured out how - without bending or squishing the card stock the rest was pretty easy!

I hope she likes it!

Until next time
