About Me

My photo

Well, I can't really tell you allllll about me! LOL. But I can tell you that I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and Christian. And I love scrapbooking, card making, painting, and altered art.  I love to coordinate parties with themes and come up with new ways to incorporate paper art into them.   I enjoy working with my hands and making something out of nothing.  It's such a wonderful thing to know that there are so many beautiful women out there who share the same passion for this hobby....ART! that I do. I draw inspiration from everything around me and from people like you! So, let's get scrappin'!

Marks Finest Papers Challenges

Hi everyone.
I've been busy scrapping.  Watching TV. Staring at the wall.  Anything and everything except "working." The house is pretty quiet and everyone is in their respective corners for the night...hopefully.  So I decided to catch up on the challenges that I've been taking a peek at and join in on the fun this weekend.

All of these are for Marks Finest Papers challenges

SWAT#78

Hi all:

Another quick post from me, and then I'm calling it a night.  I'm going to sit in front of the television and watch anything and everything until Mr. Sandman comes.

These cards were made for the SWAT Challenge over at Marks Finest Papers

Quick simple scrap cards, nothing spectacular, that I can add to my stash and have at the ready to add more embellishments to when I'm ready to give to a recipient.  A few flowers here and there, maybe another layer of matting...we'll see...

Until we meet again...

FOSTV: Wedding or Engagement

Happy Kwanzaa!

I've been blog hopping in my "quiet, me time."  So this is just a quick post as a result of that.  However, I don't expect the quiet to last long; as my grandson will probably be running through the hall in a minute yelling "Gigi!!!!"

MFP's Friends of Speedy TV Challenge #104

Products used: Colorbok textured cardstock, scrap flowers,
Darice woodgrain and tree embossing folders,
MFP Little Church stamp sentiment

Ok, the quiet has ended....
phone ringing, son yelling at the tv, and I think that I hear someone knocking....sigh

Until next time

Simon Says Stamp / Bling it On

Hi all:

I hope that you're still celebrating!

I'm back again with another card created for Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Bling it On!  Using stickles, sprays, bling, paint, etc. I created this card using several different papers from the K&Co. Let it Snow stack, a Martha Stewart snowflake punch, Diamond Stickles and a snowflake die cut.  I love the soft tones of blue mixed with the white.  And the swirls in the paper made me think of the sometimes gentle movement of snow falling.

Entered into

One of the gifts that I asked for from family today, was the ability to sit and scrap.  Without hearing "Mom!!!" or "Gigi!!" or "Renee!!" or just not being interrupted for a few hours.  And they all agreed ...after much consideration! LOL.

So, if you see several blog posts pop up consecutively in the next few hours you'll know why!

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge

Merry  Christmas Day Crafy Divas and Dudes!

Just a quick post before I head off to visit family and friends this joyous Day!

At Simon Says the challenge is for it to sparkle!   Glitter, gems, stickles, glimmer sprays and paints etc.  Now tell me, what crafty girl doesn't like stuff to sparkle?  Even if some of us are frightened of glitter!...well, I'm not really afraid of glitter, but my dog-son Maxx is.  He's going to start having a complex because of all the glitter that gets stuck in his fur! My human son says that we'll have to start calling Maxx - Maxine! LOL.

I chose to make the branches sparkle with "snow" using my Diamond Stickles.  The die was cut using the Sizzix Bird with Branches.  The bird's blingy eyes are from Want2Scrap, the Season's Greetings banner was created using a Studio G stamp and was cut free hand.  And the patterned paper/card stock is from K&Company's Let it Snow stack.

Again, wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas!

Challenges: Week of 12/23/2013

Hi all:

I chose to do this card in a clean and non-traditional colors of Christmas theme.  I used a piece of acetate to create the base of the card and stamped the Christmas package image directly onto the acetate.  I then added a piece of white card stock into the inside of the card in which to write another sentiment or your greeting and added a scrap piece of lace that was dabbed with Concord Crush dye ink from Stampin' Up! I used an American Crafts metallic marker to color in bits of the 'package,' although it's hard to tell that it has any shine from the pictures.

One thing for sure is that if I take the time to try this again, I must remember to use my Stazon ink so that I don't have to deal with smudges.  Although the fun part of it was that when I did make a smudge, it was easy to wipe it off using a plain white tissue.

Until next time

Challenges 12/22/2013

Hi all:

A quick post as I am just a busy, busy little bee.  But I wanted to get a few more cards made before the nite is over.  This is a clean and simple card to celebrate a Christmas Birthday. And although the image is matted on several different colors of card stock, I wanted a lot of white space so that the recipient would focus on the image.  I used a Prima Doll stamp for this card, coloring her in with my Bic and Copic markers.  The sentiment is a stamp by Studio G. And the tiny little birdie is part of a Martha Stewart border punch.

I'd like to enter this card into these challenges this week

Until next time

MFP/Oriental Sketch Challenge 16

Happy Sunday!

Today was a good day.  Not necessarily for me.  But then again, I guess it was!

It was a joyful celebration today at church.  Uplifting. Inspiring. And brought me some peace in my storm.  A celebration in many ways.  It's the Advent season and the pastor's sermon was "Oh! It is Jesus!"  It was something that I really needed to hear.  And I could go on and on about that subject, but I won't, it would take too long.  And for the first time in our church's history....drumroll please! There was a MARRIAGE PROPOSAL! Oh my, it was such a beautiful, beautiful moment for us all.  Shocking. Loud. Noisy. Joyous. Amazing. The soon-to-be bride was in shock!  As I sit here now, I feel teary...but a good teary, you know? We're all so happy for the couple!  They're such a sweet, sweet couple.

Ok, on to the project for Mark's Finest Papers http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/oriental-sketch-challenge-16-12-21-13.  You're provided a sketch to use.  And your project must use an Oriental image/character or paper that makes the card obviously oriental in nature.  Of course you can add to the sketch, switch direction, make it a square card, or add embellishments.  I really don't have a lot of things in Oriental nature, although for those of you that know me know that my great-great-great grandfather was Chinese.  So of course, I improvise.  I use whatever "feels" oriental in nature to me.  I like how this turned out.

Challenges / December 2013

Hi crafty ladies:

Let me begin by saying that I wish you and yours nothing but the best of Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah and a Blessed New Year!

It has definitely been a busy, busy week for me.  Some of it good. Some of it bad.  But as the saying goes "I've had my ups and downs, but I'm still here." Amen?

Anyway the card  below is being entered into several challenges this week:

Entered:
Outlawz Twisted Thursday

The base of the card is a paper bag; on which I attached the white embossed card stock.  The leaves were cut free-hand and are also made of paper bags.  That cute little reindeer was embossed using Inkadinkado bronze powder and heat set.  I then used my scallop scissors (I know, who still uses those things?!) ME! ...to make the rolled flowers.  It's hard to tell from the picture because the lighting was not good; but the flowers are actually three different colors: red, gold and silver.  I added a little bit of floral moss just because a little voice inside my head told me to!  It's actually not a very big card...I'd say that the bag was of medium size; approx. 8x4".  So when folded in half it's pretty small.

Anyway, that's it from me tonight folks...must give my brain a rest!

MFP Color Challenge #2 - 12/19/2013

No commentary this time....LOL

For Marks Finest Papers Challenge Blog

Products: green card stock, scrap ribbon,
images from MFP Holiday Tag set

MFP / Inspiration Challenge #42

Hi all:

A quick post from me to you!

These cards were designed for the challenge over at Marks Finest Papers.  The inspiration for the cards were taken from last week's challenge which pictured the outside of three decked out campers.  Sounds like fun right?  Well, this week's challenge was to take inspiration from pictures taken of the inside of these campers.

This is what I came up with

Products used: DCWV Brights mat stack in turquoise, GeorgiaPacific white card stock, Retail "Thank You" stamp, scrap ribbon, EK Success scallop punch, embossing folder, and patterned black/white paper

If you're like me; you think that every color looks great with black and white.

Marks Finest Papers / Oriental Sketch #15

Hi all:
I've decided that instead of doing so many posts for the one Challenge Blog, I'm going to try to post two challenges in one post.  Hopefully I won't confuse myself and you!

Anyway, this is the second card that I made for the Oriental Sketch over at Marks Finest Papers.

Products used: MFP Dragonflies stamp, moss, plastic flowers,
MS circle punch, and K&Co Carolyn Gavin stack

I matted the circle cuts several times to give the card more sturdiness.  I didn't want the card to appear too flat and added a small bit of moss to give it some dimension and texture.

MFP/Orient Sketch 15

Hi all
This clean and simple card was created for http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/oriental-sketch-challenge-15-12-14-13.

This is the sketch that we were given to use

Again, this can be a feminine or masculine card.  I used the Marks Finest Papers stamp Dragonflies to add a simple image and sentiment. Simple, Quick. Done.

MFP: Simple-salutations-challenge-76

Hi Crafty Chicks!

I'm back for a quick post for this weeks Simple Salutations Challenge over at Marks Finest Papers.

This week, the challenge is to create a card with a sentiment using non-traditional colors! Yay me! That's what I've been doing  for a month now. LOL.  I've had this paper stack for a long time and of course the cover is missing.  More than likely, it was one of those times that I needed something heavier than card stock, but not quite as heavy as chipboard.  Yeah, I do that a lot! LOL. I'm sure that there are plenty of you that do the same thing.  Anyway, I used the Sizzix Bigz die Bird with Vine twice; once in a patterned card stock and the other in a solid piece of card stock, added a couple of swirls of Want 2 Scrap bling and the sentiment from MFP You Are An Angel mini stamp set.

Until next time.

Remember to count your blessings!

MFP: Speedy Fox and Friends #190

Hi all:
Back again with another Marks Finest Papers challenge.  This week we were challenged to use 3 different Christmas papers on our project.  This is the card that I came up with:

Of course, I was going for a more non-traditional type of Christmas card. LOL.  I used the MFP Dragonflies mini stamp set to stamp several images around the sentiment and decided to not add any other embellishments to the card.  I'm thinking that it makes a nice masculine card.

These challenges are great for this time of year.  They allow me to  get those Christmas cards that I always procrastinate on getting done until the last minute.  And with the postal service the way it is here in Philly...tomorrow is "D" day! Either they get mailed tomorrow, or I can forget about them making their way to their recipients before Christmas!

Come back soon...and go ahead, hit that FOLLOW button!

Marks Finest Papers: SWAT #77

Hi all:

This card was created for the Mark's Finest Papers SWAT Challenge #77 using this sketch

I decided to switch the orientation of the sketch a little bit.  Even though I used a winter theme, I did choose to go with the optional twist of making the card a Thinking of You card.  The image is one of the Prima Doll stamps.  I used Copic markers to color her in and used Glossy Accents and Diamond Stickles fine glitter to make her dress.

I've decided to send this card to a friend who recently had eye surgery.  Hopefully it will cheer her up a bit and let her know that I'm thinking about her and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Back with more later

Marks Finest / Inspiration Challenge #41

Hi folks:

Todays challenge at Marks Finest Papers
http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/inspiration-challenge-41-glamper-fun-12-12-2013

Have you heard of the new "Glamper" craze?   "Glampers" are vintage travel travelers/campers that people are getting and giving them a new look.

This sounds very much like something that I would love to do when I retire.  It definitely wouldn't be a year-round-live-in-all-the-time home, but it would certainly make a nice little retreat.  I remember that my aunt, who resided in Fayetteville had one on her property that she used for her sewing room.  It was painted blue and had little white shutters and flower boxes on both sides of the stairs that she had built.  We never were allowed to play in it though.  My aunt was very very serious about her sewing! LOL.

I begin thinking about what I could do to create a project  based on the pictures given for inspiration.  But  the only thing that stayed in my mind while searching through my stash was the sound of birds in the trees and listening to the grass grow under my feet. LOL.  Yup, I'm looking forward to a long, happy, relaxed, enjoyable retirement!

So this is what I came up with; a clean and simple card

I used a Martha Stewart stamp for the image and then stamped the sentiment onto a separate piece of layered card stock.  Both the image and sentiment were heat embossed using Inkadinkado powder.

I've got to remember to search around for a small camper so that I can eventually "glam" it up when I retire!  Ahhhh, something to look forward to...

Until next time

Mark's Finest / Friends of SpeedyTV

Hi all

The challenge at http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/friends-of-speedy-tv-challenge-103-christmas-card is to create a Christmas card

(#2entry)

Unfortunately, I am yet again, having difficulties with everything electronic so I didn't get a very good picture of the card, but at least it's more focused than the other shots that I took. LOL.

I've had these stickers for a long time and always thought that they were just the cutest little things!  And even after all of these years, they're still vibrant in color.
A couple of swirly random
stamps and voila! card done.

Until next time,

MFP/SpeedyTV 103

Good morning all:

Here's to hoping that your morning is off to a great start!

The challenge over at Mark's Finest Papers http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/friends-of-speedy-tv-challenge-103-christmas-card is to create a Christmas card.

There is no recipe for this small card...it's all scraps...and I have no clue who the stamp is by!

I've been making a lot of  non-traditional color Christmas cards this year.  And the more that I think about it; Christmas is a rainbow of colors anyway.  I guess after awhile, the traditional red with green got boring and passe to me!  I figure that any color can be Christmas right?!  Plus, remember that I'm trying to get rid of all of those scraps of card stock and patterned paper; and this is a good way to use them up, making non-traditional cards.

More later,

Mark's Finest Papers / Speedy Fox #190

Hi all:

The challenge at Mark's Finest Papers / Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge was to create a project using three different Christmas papers.  Easy peasy when you have double sided paper right?

This is a paper bag card.

Supplies used; My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas
double sided 6x6 designer paper pad, scrap ribbon, paper bag, MFP Holiday Tag stamp set

I actually used five sheets to decorate the bag, tags on the front and inner tag.  The larger photo mat, which tucks into the bag, has room for four photos and/or journaling/notes.

I really like the papers in this pad and I'm hoping to find it again.  Especially the decorative music paper.  It's so vintage.

Thanks for taking a peek.
Come again soon!

MFP/Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV #79

Happy Crafty Sunday everyone.

As much as I'd like to do nothing but sit and scrap all day, because I was a lazy bumpkin this week,  I refused to do very much of anything considered "work."  I didn't do laundry.  I didn't mop.  I didn't do any ironing.  But I did spend a great deal of time sitting at my desk and scrapping!  Or just admiring my crafty goodies.  But hey, if I don't get those Christmas cards and presents made, who's gonna do it?! LOL.

I guess I have to do some work today. Real work. Like laundry, and folding and ironing to prepare myself for the work week...oh, and I really should wash my hair....sigh.  Oh well, I'll do some spot cleaning...just in case some one drops in unexpectedly!

Anyway, the challenge at http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/tutorial-time-on-speedy-tv-challenge-79-12-13-13 was to learn to create a Double Z Fold card.  Lucky me, I already knew how to make these; as I've made several for friends last Mother's Day.  In all honesty, I really didn't know what they were called.  I just liked the fact that I could make two cards out of one sheet of 12x12.

Supplies used K&Company Specialty Papers (double sided) by Carolyn Gavin,
orange cardstock, ATG, and Glitterwrap 3D decorative stickers

I'll be giving this card to my niece who will be celebrating her birthday on Wednesday.  I've made this into a pocket card; as I'll be giving her a gift card to one of the local clothing shops here in town that she likes.

Thanks for dropping by.
Please stop by again.

MFP:Color Challenge

Happy Sunday everyone.

The card below is the card  that should have been posted for the Mark's Finest Papers Color Challenge at
http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/color-challenge-1-red-black-white-12-12-13

It's a bit different from the first card; as I layered the tags with white card stock and added another layer of snowflakes to the red gingham snowflakes, along with snowflakes on the tags.

Sorry if anyone was confused with my posts....I was confused myself!  And that's what happens when your crafting addiction takes you very late into the nite right?

Anyway, thanks for taking a peek. Come back and see me again!

MFP / Simple Salutations #75

Ooops! What can I say? It was late, very late and guess what? I never added the photo of the card.....

OK, DOUBLE OOOPS! I told you all that it was extremely late at nite when I made several rapid fire posts...and I seemed to have made several mistakes with this one.  Anyway, I now realize that I did make two cards, very similar, but added only this one to both challenges.  So, look for the second card in an upcoming post for the color challenge! (That's of course if there's still time to enter that challenge)

Thanks to my crafty sister, Melissa
"Sunshine HoneyBee" for pointing that out.

Last one for the night people...I promise....ummm, unless I'm inspired after I hop through some crafty blogs! Haha

At http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/simple-salutations-challenge-75 today's challenge is to use a tag on your card.

Good. Clean and fun was my first thought.  And here is my card

MFP / Tutorial Time on Speedy TV #78

Hi crafty divas:

At Mark's Finest Papers http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/tutorial-time-on-speedy-tv-challenge-78-12-06-13 the tutorial was for us to learn a new technique; faux linen.

I've been learning several new techniques at MFP lately, and the last two are quick and easy...just what the crafty-scrappy-gal needs!

Pam Stang shows us how here http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/faux-linen-1:

And here is my card
#78

I decided not to do a Christmas card and opted for a birthday card instead.  I love this post card stamp by All Night Media; there's no name on it but the number is 485122 just in case you want to try to track it down.  And yet again, I've gotten rid of scrap paper.  Yay me!  Although I'm thinking it's time to pull out some paper stacks and use them up too.  I feel like my cards have all been the same color theme lately....oh well, we'll see!

Until later....

Mark's Finest Papers / Oriental Sketch Challenge #14

Hi all:
Like I said....rapid fire!

This week for the Oriental Sketch Challenge at Mark's Finest  Papers we were challenged to use this sketch for our project:

This is the card that I  created for the sketch

12/07/13

Long story - short of it?  Can't find camera cord. Scanner seems frozen. Cell phone dead. Daughter volunteered to photograph.  Not great shots, but they'll do! LOL

Until next time

MFP/FOSTV #102

Yup, it's me...back again...rapid fire I tell ya!

At Mark's Finest Papers http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/friends-of-speedy-tv-challenge-102-white-and-silver; the challenge was to create a card using white and silver....very Christmasy right?

Love those colors together.  But when I think about it...everything looks good with white doesn't it?

For this card, I added a base of black and silver patterned paper and mounted that to a piece of white glittered card stock.  The silver tree die cut was in a RAK that I received from an SOC friend.  The snowflakes were cut with my MS snowflake punch out of craft ribbon; which I like because it has a sort of stiffness that makes it easy to punch if you're careful.  I then added a ribbon banner and the sentiment.

(In my Arnold voice, "I'll be back")
